It’s Been Awhile

Greetings everyone! It’s been some time since you heard from us. We are still up and running and working every day. Nomad kits are still available and generally ship out the following day. Let’s go through some general updates.

ColecoRGB is no longer a project we are pursuing. There is a new up and coming RGB solution being worked on by some members of the AtariAge forums and it looks promising. If the project is open source, we may consider carrying it, but that decision will be up to the creators.

Virtual Tap and Servo Emulator kits will not be restocked as of right now. We are recommending people purchase from Castlemania Games as they are going to continue supplying both. If they decide to stop producing kits, we may revisit this decision.

“Almost all the services on your site are out of stock.” We have been hard at work playing catch up from the Nomad Triple Bypass and that has been the primary focus this year. As such everything has been set to out of stock to limit what work is coming in. You don’t want to wait and we don’t want to make you wait if we don’t have to. This will be changing. We will be going back to having limited numbers of services available for purchase in the near future. We will be going through a substantial cleaning and upgrade in the shop after the Nomad orders are all cleared out. Once that is completed, we will enable services in this limited nature again.

“Do you have any other projects coming soon?” Yes hopefully we do. There is still intention to put out a CDX Triple Bypass and possibly a X’Eye version. These would be unique, much like the Nomad kits. We have a few other projects we have been working on behind the scenes that are not yet ready for prime time. Hopefully soon though. The intention is always to release products in a finished and tested state. So until they are closer to that state, we will be keeping them close to the chest.

We hope to have more details for everyone soon. Thanks as always for your patience and support.

About The Nomad IV: A New Hope

We are going to keep this short and sweet.

As of the time of this writing. VA2 converted kits are now for sale. All Nomad related items are also back in stock. We have a decent number of installs already lined up so there might be a wait if you choose an install through us. However, all kits going forward will only be VA2 with further upgraded sound.

Other items in the shop will remain out of stock for the time being. This is so we can focus primarily on the Nomad owners who have been patiently waiting. Also keep an eye out for more videos, reviews, and comparisons from our YouTube channel and possibly some other prominent channels.

Thanks everyone for the patience, it was worth it!

About The Nomad: Return of the King Ultra Extended Edition

The final changes for the Nomad Triple Bypass VA2 kits have been made. New videos are slowly being added to our YouTube channel. We have updated the install document with an additional step that should be taken for all installations. Emails have gone out to all purchasers of the Nomad Triple Bypass DIY kits. If you purchased installation from us, then your kits will be updated to VA2 and nothing additional will be needed from you. If you did not receive an email, but did purchase a DIY kit. Please reach out to us.

We will not be opening sales for Nomad related items until the VA2 kits are ready to ship. At this time the estimated arrival of VA2 components is mid-late March. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation in China, this may be extended. As always we will update here and on our Twitter account.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding. We can’t wait to hear reviews of the new VA2 kits.

About The Nomad: Part Deux

What is going on with Nomad Triple Bypass?

Last week it was identified that there were certain FM channels missing and the FM channels were flipped in most installs, but not all installs. We have identified the flip issue and have plans to correct this. The current work has been on restoring the missing FM channels, which is done. However, we want to ensure that there will be no further adjustments needed. So extra time is being spent to ensure no possible solution is left behind.

When will kits be back in stock and what about people who already bought one?

We will keep Nomad related items out of stock on the website until this is fully resolved. At which time all new kits will go out with fixes applied. If you already have a kit, have no fear. You will not be left behind. There will be multiple options available for you to get your kit updated. We won’t go into details just yet because we need to have the fixes finalized. Anyone who purchased an install service with us, these are on hold. However, there is nothing you need to do. Your kits will be updated in house and you will receive the revised version when your install is complete.

I already bought a kit and have it here to install/is currently installed. Is this causing damage?

The current boards are in no way dangerous or hazardous to you or your console. So if you have it installed or don’t want to wait, enjoy it and know it will be getting better. If you have not installed your kit, we recommend waiting. Unless you don’t mind opening the console again to apply fixes.

Is it done yet? What’s the status of my order? Can you provide more details?

We will continue to update everyone with progress. We intend on being as forthcoming as possible, but understand the priority is finding the best solution. Then addressing questions/concerns and how to handle the fixes. The goal is to make this as painless as possible for everyone. Please just bear with us and watch for updates. We will be posting new videos to YouTube when we are certain that the issues are resolved, along with updating here and on Twitter.

They’re Here

The moment many of you have been waiting for. The Nomad Triple Bypass kits are now on hand and being tested. All pre-orders will be updated with tracking in the coming days. The intention is to start shipping kits at the beginning of next week. So if you receive an email with tracking, don’t expect the kit to ship until next week. If for some reason the kits are not shipping at the beginning of next week, we will update everyone here and on Twitter.

All Nomad Triple Bypass kits are being tested on a real working Nomad. So when your kit ships, it will already have been tested and in working order. Some kits may have touch up solder spots that we did to correct issues or questionable joints. Rest assured that when your kit is packaged, we know that it is working correctly. If there are any issues after you receive your kit, please double-check your install against our documentation BEFORE contacting us for support. While these are DIY kits and we have done our best to document the installation, we are able to answer some questions if you encounter issues.

For any new orders as of today, we will be removing the pre-order status from the kit page, but pre-orders will have priority for shipping. We are really looking forward to the comments and opinions of everyone who purchased a kit. This was a labor of love and has been a long anticipated project. Thank you to everyone for standing by and waiting patiently.

Welcome to 2020

We hope everyone is having a Happy New Year so far. Unfortunately leading into the New Year Mobius ended up becoming quite sick and was unable to work. This means that no orders were being addressed during that time. Things are now starting to pick back up but the recovery is taking longer than anticipated.

To help with this, as of right now all services, except those related to the Nomad Triple Bypass are out of stock. They will be staying that way until the backlog is cleared at the minimum. We understand that some people have been waiting a long time and unfortunately between the holidays and getting sick, this has been a difficult month to get work done. If you have been waiting some time for your order, have no fear you should be seeing updates soon. Maybe even today.

Thank you all for your patience and bearing with us.

About Time

Happy Holidays everyone! With the holidays upon us the shop will be slowing down a bit. We still plan to be open for operation most days but will be taking a little time off here and there to celebrate with family. It is still our intention to complete as much as possible before the 25th, but we definitely won’t have everything finished.

The current plan is to have all Nomad Triple Bypass kits and services up for pre-order tomorrow, December 20. Please remember, kits are in production but this is a pre-order and arrival/shipping is subject to change. The current expectation is that kits will be shipping out in mid-late January. This also means that any install or recap services ordered will be handled at the same time. We will have a small number of LCDDRV boards available for installation only. Please keep in mind, these are substantially more expensive than the composite video screen option, which we also offer. If you are not familiar with the LCDDRV, it uses RGB instead of composite video for the LCD signals. This provides a much higher quality picture.

At this time, we don’t have any other updates on our ongoing projects, since primary focus has been getting ready for Nomad Triple Bypass and working on Virtual Tap orders. There will be more coming in the new year, so stay tuned. We hope you have Happy Holidays and thank you all for a great year.

Plans For December

With this being December and the holidays right around the corner, we thought it would be best to address the plans for this month. The focus of the shop will be to work through everything that is already here, with the hopes of completion before the end of the month. Anything that arrives from this point forward is expected to not be completed until the new year. It’s possible that these will be completed sooner, but we don’t want to make promises on that.

3DORGB and Virtual Tap installs will continue to be open since these are newly available. We have also added a small handful of DCHDMI installs. Virtual Tap kits are now sold out. While our original intention was to continue manufacturing these, we will be supporting CastleMania Games and their endeavors with kit sales going forward. We will however continue to stock the Servo Emulators for some time.

Lastly, we are currently planning on offering pre-orders for the Nomad Triple Bypass kits. These are now ready for production and we are in the process of creating documentation for installations. While pre-orders are not something we normally do, in this case to assist with ensuring there is ample supply for the first batch, we think it might be best to offer this. When the orders go live, we will update everyone accordingly.

Thank you all for your patience and support.

Nomad Triple Bypass is Go!

We finally have exciting news on the Nomad Triple Bypass. The prototypes are tested and working great. We are now in the process of writing documentation for installs. Follow us on Twitter to see new images we post while we await the production batches of these. We do not yet have final pricing determined as it will depend heavily on the production costs. These will be more expensive than the standard Triple Bypass boards that are currently available.

If you aren’t sure what the Nomad Triple Bypass is, it’s a completely custom kit that enables superior RGB output from the miniDIN. It also allows for improved RGB video on the original OEM LCD screen, improved video from Composite Video LCD screens, and improved video from the LCDDRV RGB screens. This also represents the first new audio circuit for the Nomad that has ever been produced. The audio is brought in line with that of the coveted Genesis/MegaDrive 1 VA3. It also enables Sega CD audio and SMS audio playback if you are using a compatible flash cart, like the TerraOnion MegaSD.

In addition to this, the kit will also replace the factory headphone and speaker amplifier with a new Class AB amplifier. This offers higher volume output and greatly improved clarity, without loss of any original functionality. Please keep an eye on our social media channels to get the latest information and to see sneak peeks of the kits and their output. New videos were posted to our YouTube channel yesterday, with more to come.

Thank you all for your patience and we hope you agree that it has been worth the wait.
