They’re Here

The moment many of you have been waiting for. The Nomad Triple Bypass kits are now on hand and being tested. All pre-orders will be updated with tracking in the coming days. The intention is to start shipping kits at the beginning of next week. So if you receive an email with tracking, don’t expect the kit to ship until next week. If for some reason the kits are not shipping at the beginning of next week, we will update everyone here and on Twitter.

All Nomad Triple Bypass kits are being tested on a real working Nomad. So when your kit ships, it will already have been tested and in working order. Some kits may have touch up solder spots that we did to correct issues or questionable joints. Rest assured that when your kit is packaged, we know that it is working correctly. If there are any issues after you receive your kit, please double-check your install against our documentation BEFORE contacting us for support. While these are DIY kits and we have done our best to document the installation, we are able to answer some questions if you encounter issues.

For any new orders as of today, we will be removing the pre-order status from the kit page, but pre-orders will have priority for shipping. We are really looking forward to the comments and opinions of everyone who purchased a kit. This was a labor of love and has been a long anticipated project. Thank you to everyone for standing by and waiting patiently.

Welcome to 2020

We hope everyone is having a Happy New Year so far. Unfortunately leading into the New Year Mobius ended up becoming quite sick and was unable to work. This means that no orders were being addressed during that time. Things are now starting to pick back up but the recovery is taking longer than anticipated.

To help with this, as of right now all services, except those related to the Nomad Triple Bypass are out of stock. They will be staying that way until the backlog is cleared at the minimum. We understand that some people have been waiting a long time and unfortunately between the holidays and getting sick, this has been a difficult month to get work done. If you have been waiting some time for your order, have no fear you should be seeing updates soon. Maybe even today.

Thank you all for your patience and bearing with us.

About Time

Happy Holidays everyone! With the holidays upon us the shop will be slowing down a bit. We still plan to be open for operation most days but will be taking a little time off here and there to celebrate with family. It is still our intention to complete as much as possible before the 25th, but we definitely won’t have everything finished.

The current plan is to have all Nomad Triple Bypass kits and services up for pre-order tomorrow, December 20. Please remember, kits are in production but this is a pre-order and arrival/shipping is subject to change. The current expectation is that kits will be shipping out in mid-late January. This also means that any install or recap services ordered will be handled at the same time. We will have a small number of LCDDRV boards available for installation only. Please keep in mind, these are substantially more expensive than the composite video screen option, which we also offer. If you are not familiar with the LCDDRV, it uses RGB instead of composite video for the LCD signals. This provides a much higher quality picture.

At this time, we don’t have any other updates on our ongoing projects, since primary focus has been getting ready for Nomad Triple Bypass and working on Virtual Tap orders. There will be more coming in the new year, so stay tuned. We hope you have Happy Holidays and thank you all for a great year.

Plans For December

With this being December and the holidays right around the corner, we thought it would be best to address the plans for this month. The focus of the shop will be to work through everything that is already here, with the hopes of completion before the end of the month. Anything that arrives from this point forward is expected to not be completed until the new year. It’s possible that these will be completed sooner, but we don’t want to make promises on that.

3DORGB and Virtual Tap installs will continue to be open since these are newly available. We have also added a small handful of DCHDMI installs. Virtual Tap kits are now sold out. While our original intention was to continue manufacturing these, we will be supporting CastleMania Games and their endeavors with kit sales going forward. We will however continue to stock the Servo Emulators for some time.

Lastly, we are currently planning on offering pre-orders for the Nomad Triple Bypass kits. These are now ready for production and we are in the process of creating documentation for installations. While pre-orders are not something we normally do, in this case to assist with ensuring there is ample supply for the first batch, we think it might be best to offer this. When the orders go live, we will update everyone accordingly.

Thank you all for your patience and support.

Nomad Triple Bypass is Go!

We finally have exciting news on the Nomad Triple Bypass. The prototypes are tested and working great. We are now in the process of writing documentation for installs. Follow us on Twitter to see new images we post while we await the production batches of these. We do not yet have final pricing determined as it will depend heavily on the production costs. These will be more expensive than the standard Triple Bypass boards that are currently available.

If you aren’t sure what the Nomad Triple Bypass is, it’s a completely custom kit that enables superior RGB output from the miniDIN. It also allows for improved RGB video on the original OEM LCD screen, improved video from Composite Video LCD screens, and improved video from the LCDDRV RGB screens. This also represents the first new audio circuit for the Nomad that has ever been produced. The audio is brought in line with that of the coveted Genesis/MegaDrive 1 VA3. It also enables Sega CD audio and SMS audio playback if you are using a compatible flash cart, like the TerraOnion MegaSD.

In addition to this, the kit will also replace the factory headphone and speaker amplifier with a new Class AB amplifier. This offers higher volume output and greatly improved clarity, without loss of any original functionality. Please keep an eye on our social media channels to get the latest information and to see sneak peeks of the kits and their output. New videos were posted to our YouTube channel yesterday, with more to come.

Thank you all for your patience and we hope you agree that it has been worth the wait.

Shop inventory updates

We are currently running low on the Virtual Tap and Servo Emulators. We will not be restocking the Virtual Taps once they run out. CastleMania Games will be providing Virtual Tap kits after we have run out. The Servo Emulators will likely be restocked, but in low quantities due to lower interest overall and being easier to acquire parts for. We also released our boards for these on OSHPark. In case someone wants to make their own.

The Nomad Triple Bypass and Colecovision RGB prototypes are currently being made. If there are no further changes necessary on either, these will go into production ASAP. The Nomad should be complete now. Based on the last prototype board and the very minor change made to provide better video in bypass mode to all screen types. We will be working on making some videos to showcase the new audio and video output.

If the final concern with the Colecovision RGB board was addressed, then those will also be ready for production. We apologize for the long timeline on these. It was very necessary to ensure that all the issues were being addressed going forward. For anyone familiar with the Colecovision consoles and their quirks, this should make sense.

As always thank you for your patience and support.

This is Virtual Tap!

Virtual Tap kits are in our hands and programming has completed. We will be testing all kits the remainder of the week. On Monday we will be opening orders for kits. Both VGA and RGB are available. All kits will be fully tested before shipping.

There are no restrictions on the number of kits that can be purchased. Please remember these kits are sold only as a board and flex cable. You are responsible for providing the connector and any buttons or extras you want. Orders that include an install service do not need to worry about providing connectors or buttons. They are included as part of the install service.

We expect these to be quite popular and as such please understand that install services will likely see a long wait period. Before purchasing an install, please keep this in mind.

We are happy to finally be providing these to everyone who has been waiting. Thank you all for your patience and understanding while we worked on getting these ready.

New Products Available

Good news for everyone who has been waiting. The “TurboAmp” PC Engine/TurboGrafx 16 Stereo amplifier is now available for purchase. This is an inexpensive add-on for your consoles to enjoy high quality amplified stereo audio.

We are also happy to announce that Virtual Tap kits are now in hand and are being programmed and tested. Once testing is completed, we will open orders for the Virtual Tap kits.

More new kits will be coming in the future. We are finalizing testing on a few products that we hope to have available before the end of the year. Thank you all for patience and support this year.

Outgoing Repairs

It’s with a heavy heart that we let people know all repairs will be shipping back to their owners. We have been trying to get these addressed for a long time and just cannot dedicate the appropriate amount of time to do so. It’s not fair to the owners of these units that we keep them here. If you have moved since you sent in your repair, please reach out to us with your new address. Otherwise we will be returning repairs to the addresses we have currently.

We don’t intend on making exceptions for these and it may not be popular but it has to be done. There are too many here that are not getting the proper level of attention and we just don’t see having the time in the future. Expect to start seeing your repairs heading home beginning this week. Apologies for wasting your time if you were waiting.

Virtual Tap!

Exciting news for everyone who has been waiting. Virtual Tap kits are in manufacturing right now. Assuming all goes well, we should have these kits in our hands sometime in October. The kits will be available for install service or as a DIY. Kits will be available as RGB or VGA as well. If you have questions regarding the kit or about the installation, please reach out ahead of time. It is expected that these will be quite popular and as such, we may have limited time to answer questions once the sales are live.

For more information about the Virtual Tap, please refer to the link to the original creator’s website. http://furrtek.free.fr/virtualtap/

Nomad Triple Bypass is also getting close to being ready. The headphone/speaker amplifier is done. The balancing is almost done. We should have new capture videos being posted soon.
